This activity was developed for me by one of the members of the Leadership Center at Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia. This activity you can use as a group activity or as an individual activity. When you use the Activity as an individual event, just change the directions to match the audience and situation.
Here are the directions for a performance improvement activity that you can use in your next training session.
Truth or fiction: “Business results are impacted by management’s role in training and staff development.”
- Participants should read the statement above and, working individually, list five reasons why they believe the statement is either true or false.
- Teams should choose a table leader by having each table member draw a card from the deck of cards on their table (participant drawing the highest ranking card will be the team leader role for this activity). Aces are high.
- Participants are to confer with their team colleagues and note similarities and dissimilarities.
- Teams should compile their responses on chart paper, and the team leader will share results with the class.
Summary: Discuss the findings and link the points made in the discussion to your audience.
